I looked at a photo story called 'to the beach' by Case Gilbert, I found this one interesting as it although it was based around mountain biking it was lot more focussed on the journey and experiences they had. Cass Gilbert works as a freelance mountain bike tour guide and has done many amazing journeys just using his bike, this story takes viewer along with him with the hopes that someone will read this and want to try it out.
The point of this story isn't just for the people who like mountain bikes, this story is aimed at all people who like adventure, nature, and creativity. It aims to show you the natural beauty of the world and the experiences you can have within nature.
On the title page you see a large double page image showing beautiful green trees in the morning mist with somebody cycling down a wide dirt path. The title of the story is on the bottom right corner in white, it says 'to the beach'. This is an effective way of getting somebody to read the story, by showing a large beautiful image people will be intrigued/ amazed and want to find out more about this place.
The next page is where the story really begins, it opens straight away with a picture of the two bikes, a picture of their camp, and a picture of them on a trail. Straight away this introduces the backbones of the story, it tells the viewer what bikes they're riding, and shows a bit of the amazing landscape/ locations they stopped at. On the opposite page the theme of nature is introduced with a full bleed image of a lady looking up into an interesting looking tree, there is a quote on the top right corner saying, "it was another of those moments when this southern Mexican state astounds me yet again with its breadth of remarkable plant life". These pages together show the viewer a glimpse into some of the amazing experiences you can have doing these sort of trips.
The whole story is very much like a guide/ diary, the next pages show us a lot more about the land and culture of the place. You see the wildlife, the locals, the food, as well as the locals traditional utensils/ ways of doing things. The page opposite this is full of text, it describes the place, adding to the picture in the viewers mind and also talks about the necessity of sowing down and taking it all in. This page shows the viewer the friendliness of the locals, and their culture appealing to people who enjoy places filled with culture but also showing people who may not be as comfortable doing this kind of trip that the people are always friendly and happy to help you out.
Lastly the on the sixth page, you see a lady sat on a beach next to the bikes, it is sunny, the sky and sea are both a nice blue and everything seems very relaxed. This is showing the viewer what the reward for the journey is, if not the journey itself and will appeal to the more relaxed tourist. It marks the end of their trip and I think it works well that they use a whole page for a photo without the inclusion any text.
